Pricing Information

Factors that Affect Pricing

Every concrete project is different, which is why pricing can vary based on the size, scope, site conditions, and overall complexity of the work. At Qland Construction, we provide written estimates tailored to each project so our clients understand exactly what is being proposed and what factors may affect the final cost.

Concrete flatwork pricing typically falls within a range depending on whether the project is a straightforward new installation, a demolition and replacement job, a custom layout, or work requiring additional preparation, reinforcement, grading, or access accommodations. Smaller jobs may carry a higher cost per square foot because mobilization, labor, equipment, and setup still apply even when the total area is limited. Larger projects may offer better overall value per square foot, but final pricing still depends on project-specific conditions.

Several factors can influence the cost of a concrete project, including:

Smaller concrete jobs, pads, and minor add-ons may seem simple, but they still require mobilization, labor, equipment, and materials. Because of that, small jobs often do not price proportionally the same way as larger projects.

Project Size

The overall square footage or dimensions of the driveway, patio, walkway, slab, or addition will directly affect labor, materials, forming, finishing, and cleanup requirements.

Site Preparation

Site preparation is one of the biggest cost variables. Grading, excavation, soil correction, compaction, root removal, debris removal, and preparation of the subgrade can all affect the overall price.

Repairs to Surrounding Areas

Concrete work can sometimes affect adjacent grass, landscaping, irrigation, or nearby surfaces during construction. Restoration or repair of these areas, if included, may impact overall pricing.

Thickness and Structural Requirements

Projects requiring increased slab thickness, edge thickening, footings, monolithic construction, or added reinforcement may cost more than standard flatwork installations.

Demolition and Removal

If existing concrete must be broken up, removed, hauled away, or disposed of, this will impact the total project cost. The condition, thickness, and accessibility of the existing concrete can also affect demolition pricing.

Reinforcement

The type and amount of reinforcement required for the project, such as wire mesh, rebar, or upgraded structural reinforcement, will influence pricing depending on the intended use and project design.

Access to the Work Area

Projects with difficult access, limited equipment entry, fencing obstacles, backyard locations, tight lot lines, or long material transport distances may require additional labor and time, which can increase cost.

Shape and Layout

Straightforward rectangular pours are generally more economical than projects with curves, tight transitions, custom borders, unusual layouts, or multiple connection points to existing structures.

Drainage and Elevation Conditions

If the project requires slope correction, drainage planning, tie-ins to existing elevations, or adjustments to prevent water issues, those factors can increase the scope and cost.

Straightforward rectangular pours are generally more economical than projects with curves, tight transitions, custom borders, unusual layouts, or multiple connection points to existing structures.

Permits, Engineering, and Code Requirements

Some projects may require permits, engineering, inspections, or other jurisdictional approvals, depending on the type of work and location. These requirements can affect both price and timeline.
